Needing to cover ten in-ceiling speaker holes until we actually purchase speakers, I came up with this: a pack of 35 paper plates for $4 and some double-sided mounting tape.
This is almost identical to covers I remember from my grandparent's house that were used to fill in holes from old cast iron stoves. They looked sort like the cheaper paper plates with the fluted edges except they were made of tin, painted white and some had round paper appliques of decorative scenes. Nice!
The exact solution I was looking for. We're taking our speakers from our existing home to use them in a new home. We want to rent our old house, but didn't want to leave the speakers in the home in fear of them being stolen. Plates on the ceiling will do the trick.

This is what home improvement is all about.
You bet! It was either this or plastic fan medallions at $6 ea. from Lowes...
Brilliant! :)
